The fruit fly lab (above link) is due 11/29. Email me if you have any questions!
Cross A
We decided there was evidence of sex-linkage. When we set up this cross a few weeks ago, we noticed that all the males had white eyes! Here are the totals:
Red eyed male = 74
White eyed male = 68
Red eyed female = 64
White eyed female = 73
Fill these numbers under "Observed" data in the table on p. 3 of the lab. Then work backwards with Punnett squares to figure out the genotypes of the F1 and Parental flies.
Cross B
We looked at the totals for males and females and saw nothing that led us to believe the traits were sex-linked. Also, when we set up this cross all the flies were wild type. Here are the totals:
Red eye, normal wing = 154
Red eye, vesitgial wing = 53
Sepia eye, normal wing = 45
Sepia eye, vestigial wing = 20
